Editorial Standards

People usually find this site at a bad moment, and they act on what they read. That raises the bar for what we are willing to publish. These are the rules we hold ourselves to.

Everything is based on official, verifiable sources

Our guides are built from primary sources: Arizona statutes and rules, the published materials, forms, and procedures of the state agencies that administer workers’ compensation, and court decisions where they settle a point. Where a secondary source is useful, we treat it as a pointer to the underlying rule, not as the rule itself.

How we treat sources

  • We check the original. Claims are verified against the source text, not against another website’s summary of it.
  • We cite and link. Where a guide states a rule, deadline, or procedure, we name or link the source so you can read it yourself.
  • We say when something varies. Many outcomes depend on the facts of a case. Where a rule has exceptions or discretion built in, we say so rather than flattening it into a false certainty.
  • We leave out what we cannot verify. No invented statistics, no fabricated examples, no made-up case results, no anonymous claims presented as fact. If we cannot trace it to a source, it does not get published.
  • We date and review. Guides show when they were published or last updated, and we revisit them when the underlying law or procedure changes.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly. If something on this site is inaccurate, out of date, or unclear, tell us through the contact form and point us to the page. We will check it against the source and fix it. Substantive corrections are made to the page itself and the page’s updated date changes to reflect the revision; we do not quietly delete pages to hide a mistake.

Independence and disclosure

Editorial decisions are made on the merits of the subject, not on commercial interest. Any affiliation that could reasonably affect how you read this site is disclosed on our Ownership & Disclosures page.
